Old habits die hard

It’s said that the definition of insanity is doing the same thing over and over again, expecting different results.

I’ve always wondered why it seems women struggle the most with knowing their self-worth. At the core, self-love and self-worth are at the root of why we choose the partners we choose. Finding out your mate is not the person you thought he or she was, is totally different from believing every ex is not the person you hoped them to be.

Ladies, have you ever found yourself stuck in the rut when it came to dating? That the same "type" of man kept on coming your way?

I got that "Good Hair"

So you feel like you’re stuck in a rut and you need to change it up a bit. How about going AU - NATURALE!? [We’re talking hair people – get your mind out of the gutter]. Some of your friends are excited and inspired while others are confused and displeased. You start second-guessing your bold decision: “What was I thinking?” “Should I grow my hair back?” For centuries the war between kinky versus straight hair has been the talk of the town amongst people of color. Think about it – how many times have you asked your friends or loved one about you considering to enter “the dark side”. The debate mostly stems from groups claiming that relaxed or “chemically altered” hair is conforming to the "White American/European” standard of beauty. Other groups state that natural hair is unattractive and unprofessional.

What is your take?
Is relaxed hair socially acceptable? Is natural hair the only symbol for black?

Remember whichever path you choose, straight or kinky, embrace it. It is what makes us unique. At the end of the day, we’re all under one race regardless of the texture, color or length of our hair.

A friend of YOURS is a friend of MINE

Hi ladies- hope your work/school week is going well. Take a minute to check out our new post and comment!

Here's the scene. You are currently in a relationship and you have had the pleasure to chill with your boyfriend's closest friend on numerous occasions, as a group. One day you exchange phone numbers with the friend. Why? A couple of reasons: "Maybe she can tell me more of what he likes to do, eat or watch." "I'm thinking of doing a surprise party, maybe he can help me with the invites" Perhaps its a matter of convenience in the event of an emergency. "I'm in the hospital." "I haven't heard from him. I want to know if everything is okay." (PLEASE NOTE: there is a clear difference between being a concerned girlfriend or a complete psycho path).

Is it acceptable to exchange personal information (i.e. phone number, email, etc.) with your boyfriends best bud? And does it matter if that friend is of the opposite sex?

More than friends?

First off: HAPPY NEW YEAR 2011!!

I looked up the word "friend" in the dictionary and this is what it said:
Friend (noun): 1. somebody emotionally close; somebody who trusts and is fond of another; 2. acquaintance; 3. ally...
We've all had a close "friend" that was of the opposite sex. You enjoy his company, his physical stature, his sense of humor and your ability to share almost any intimate detail about yourself to him. At times you even try to get some romantic attention from this “friend” but you end up in no man's land. But you don't give up, because like we've been taught: if at first you don't succeed, try, try again. Right?

Ladies, have you ever had a man in your life who kept on showing you who he is yet you kept him around because you refused to accept it? How long did it take you to see the writing on the wall?
